PHILADELPHIA (September 29, 2016) – Sister Cities Park will come alive with family- and pet- friendly activities to celebrate fall during Fall Family Fun Days with Furry Friends presented by TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank®. Produced by the Center City District, the event will kick off on Saturday, October 8, and continue October 15, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The park will be filled with live music, kid- and pet-friendly games, activities and demonstrations and free hayrides around the park. With fall-themed food and drinks from Logan Square Café inside the park, this year’s Fall Family Fun Days with Furry Friends salute pets as important members of the family.
Partners including the Franklin Institute, the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Philly Arts Center, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art will be on site offering interactive crafts, games, and activities celebrating the animal theme for this year’s event. The Academy of Natural Sciences will bring animal specimens.
TD Bank, the pet-friendly bank, will offer giveaways and distribute information. Along with free hayrides around the park, there will be free face painting, music and entertainment, and games and prizes from 101.1 MORE FM both Saturdays. Inside the Children’s Discovery Garden at the park, guests will be able to visit the scarecrow festival, presented by Philadelphia Parks & Recreation’s after-school program. Each day will feature Muttropolitan Pet Sitting.
October 8 also will have101.1 MORE FM from 11:00am- 12:00pm and live music from Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Steve Pullara and the Cool Beans Band performing an Animal-Song-Sing-Along, 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. That Saturday will also have make-and-take apple-themed crafts with Parks & Recreation. PAWS will have information on animal adoption, Red Paw will teach about fire safety and pet preparedness.
On October 15, Matt Santry will play 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., and Kyle Herring from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Guests can create family portraits with Mural Arts. Children can interact with the Franklin Institute’s Robot Exhibit, and do crafts and activities with the Philly Arts Center. PSPCA will have information on animal adoption and lead animal-themed crafts. Red Pawwill have information on pet safety.
