PHILADELPHIA (July 9, 2026) — Nearly 50 new shops, restaurants and service providers have opened within the Center City District (CCD) boundaries so far this year. Representing a diverse lineup from trending apparel flagships to James Beard-recognized restaurants, the new businesses reflect continued momentum in the district’s retail and dining scene.

This year’s wave of openings underscores Center City’s pull as a retail and dining destination. Bathhouse, Bombas, Pvolve, Olfactory NYC, Kpop Nara and Toast aren’t available anywhere else in the region, while other national names with suburban presence, including Rothy’s and Rally House, are choosing to plant flags in Center City – home to a large residential population that does their shopping (and spending) downtown.

Existing tenants are also doubling down: Lululemon has expanded into a larger flagship on Walnut Street; Mitchell & Ness moved from a 2,500-square-foot location to a new 16,000-square-foot flagship two blocks away; and Iron Hill Brewery has returned to Market Street. Meanwhile, the district’s dining scene shows no signs of slowing down, highlighted by Scratch Restaurants’ entry into the market with two separate concepts in the new 210 S. 12th Street building.

“The range of businesses choosing Center City right now tells you everything about the state of the downtown retail landscape,” Center City District President and CEO Prema Katari Gupta said. “We’re watching national brands pick Center City over the suburbs, longtime tenants invest in bigger footprints, and some of the city’s most ambitious restaurateurs make our stellar dining scene even better.”
