FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A safe adaptation of a beloved winter experience

PHILADELPHIA (November 19, 2020): Winter traditions continue safely at Dilworth Park with the addition of Deck the Hall Holiday Lights! The newly redesigned illumination will feature festive projections on the west façade of City Hall. This unique experience will premiere on Monday, November 23 and will run through January 1, 2021.

The lighting was redesigned to help reinforce social distancing protocols. Unlike in past years, when the light show ran at specified times, Deck the Hall Holiday Lights will play continuously throughout the evening on a 30 minute loop and without musical accompaniment, allowing guests to enjoy the lights at their leisure without drawing crowds. As the images and colors change throughout runtime, there will be periodic sound effects. A special message from one of 6abc’s on-air personalities will remind guests to adhere to current safety guidelines, including wearing masks and keeping six feet of social distance.

Produced with support from the Center City District and 6abc, the display was created by Philadelphia-based art and design studio Klip Collective. The daily schedule is as follows:

Sunday-Thursday: 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Friday-Saturday:  5 p.m. - 11 p.m.

“This holiday season may be as meaningful as any we have ever experienced. We are proud to support safe, socially-distant activities at Dilworth Park, including Deck the Hall Holiday Lights. We hope it will bring some much needed joy to Center City residents and visitors,” said President & General Manager of 6abc, Bernie Prazenica."

Deck the Hall Holiday Lights joins existing wintertime offerings at Dilworth Park, including the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink, Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin and Wintergarden on the Greenfield Lawn, featuring a Chaddsford Winery Kiosk. The Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market will have booths scattered throughout the park, and new food and beverage options like Oath Pizza and a mobile to-go bar are available for every taste.

CCD and the park’s café operators have implemented increased health safety procedures throughout the park and visitors will be reminded to adhere to all CDC guidelines. CCD staff are all wearing masks. Anyone who feels sick, or has come in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 14 days, should refrain from entering the park. CCD staff, café and rink staff will be distributing free masks to guests in the park.

The winter season at Dilworth Park is presented by the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute and supported by 6abc and Temple University. All programs are weather permitting and subject to change. Dilworth Park is located at 1 S. 15th St., on the west side of City Hall. Visit DilworthPark.org/winter to learn more.
