Celebrate a New Decade with Continued Fun at Dilworth Park

Winter activities continue through the end of February!

PHILADELPHIA (January 3, 2020): As Philadelphians welcome a new year, and a new decade, with excitement, Dilworth Park continues to provide free to low-cost fun to visitors of all ages. Winter events and amenities will remain in operation through February 23, including the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink, Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin and the Wintergarden on the Greenfield Lawn presented by TD Bank.

Admission to the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink is $3 for children 10 and younger, and $5 for adults; skate rental is $10 per person. Temple University staff and students will receive $1 off admission with presentation of their Temple University ID. SEPTA Pass or SEPTA Key holders will also receive $1 off ice-skating admission as part of the SEPTA pass perks program, (some restrictions apply). And throughout the month of February, ice skating is free for everyone, courtesy of Capital One and the Free in February promotion. Starting January 20, tickets for free admission will be available at the Capital One Café at 135 S. 17th Street. Skate rental is not included in that discount.

Don’t miss these new and ongoing events at the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink:

  • Sled Skating
    Daily, Jan. 6-Feb. 23
    Children and adults with physical/developmental disabilities can reserve a sled, sponsored by Magee Rehabilitation.
     
  • Learn to Skate
    Tuesdays, Jan. 7-Feb. 4
    Professional ice-skating lessons for children and adults. Basics are taught in 30-minute sessions for five weeks. Registration and fees apply.
     
  • Rothman Orthopaedics presents Center City Fit
    Tuesdays, Jan. 7-Feb.18
    Noon-1 p.m.
    Professional trainers from Optimal Sport Health Club 1315 Walnut lead free workouts on the ice during lunchtime.
     
  • College Nights
    Thursdays, through Feb. 20
    5 p.m.-9 p.m.
    College students pay $2 admission and can enjoy $2 hot chocolates with a valid student ID. Skate rental not included. Discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.  
     
  • Superhero Skate
    Saturday, Jan. 18
    2 p.m.-4 p.m.
    Superheroes, assemble! There will be character meet and greets, a cape giveaway to the first 150 children and a visit from the B101.1 team. Capital One will also be on-site to take superhero-style family photos. All guests are encouraged to come in costume.
     
  • Free in February presented by Capital One
    Daily, Feb. 1-Feb. 23
    Starting January 20, and throughout the month of February, visitors to the Capital One Café at 135 S. 17th St. can pick up a free admission pass the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink. These Free in February passes, courtesy of Capital One, are valid February 1-February 23, 2020. (Skate rental not included).
     
  • Sweetheart Skate
    Friday, Feb. 14
    7 p.m.-10 p.m.
    An evening for sweethearts to skate and sing karaoke on Valentine’s Day and enjoy specially priced EFFEN Black Cherry cocktails in the Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin.

The Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin, sponsored by Shipley Energy and the Met Philadelphia, continues to serve hearty seasonal menu offerings like mac & cheese and chicken and waffle sandwiches. Toasty firepits decorate the outdoor terrace, which allows guests to take in the sights and sounds of downtown. The heated indoor space offers a full bar featuring cocktails crafted with Maker’s Mark bourbon and Jim Beam Apple, along with ice-cold Victory Brewing Company’s Winter Cheers and Stella Artois.

    Tuesdays, Jan. 7-Feb. 18
    6 p.m.-8 p.m.
    Hosted by Johnny Goodtimes, guests are guaranteed to have a ball with weekly trivia themes, drink specials and awesome prizes.
     
  • Karaoke Nights presented by the Met Philadelphia
    Fridays, Jan. 10-Feb. 21
    7 p.m.-10 p.m.
    Sing, snack and sip into the weekend with karaoke, hosted by DJ Jeanna. Guests will have the chance to win tickets to upcoming shows at the Met Philadelphia.
     
  • Chinese New Year Celebration
    Saturday, Jan. 25
    5 p.m.-9 p.m.
    Experience Chinese New Year at Dilworth Park featuring Temple University’s Klein College of Media & Communication. The Philadelphia Suns will perform a traditional lion dance, complete with a prancing dragon. Firework effects, an Asian-inspired menu and other surprises are planned throughout the evening. Guests are encouraged to ice skate on the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink.

The whimsy and magic of the Wintergarden on the Greenfield Lawn presented by TD Bank continues through February 23, along with its Chaddsford Winery kiosk, which will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Winter in Dilworth Park is presented by Rothman Orthopaedic Institute with support from Independence Blue Cross, Capital One, Temple University, Live Nation and 6abc. Dilworth Park is located at 1 S. 15th St., on the west side of City Hall. Events are weather permitting and subject to change.
