FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PHILADELPHIA (September 12, 2019): Hay bales and cornstalks and pumpkins, oh my! Beginning Friday, October 11 through Sunday, October 13, Dilworth Park’s annual fall festival, Octoberfest, will return for a three-day celebration of all things autumn.
Seasonal décor will decorate the space, providing photo-worthy backdrops for guests to snap, post and share. The Met Philadelphia Stage is slated to host a variety of local bands and DJs, curated by Live Nation. Pumpkin painting, apple pressing and cider making with the Wissahickon Environmental Center are just some of the free activities to be offered.
Brûlée Catering has crafted a delicious seasonal menu of traditional favorites like bratwurst with whole grain Maker’s Mark mustard and German potato salad, plus Philly-fusion bites like cheesesteaks and a warm Bavarian pretzel with Victory cheese sauce. These and other refreshments will be available in the Air Grille and pop-up beer tent, along with fall-inspired cocktails made with Maker’s Mark bourbon and seasonal brews like Victory Brewing Company’s Festbier and Goose Island.
New this year, a pumpkin carving demonstration and keg tapping will kick off the weekend’s festivities at noon on Friday. The popular stein hoisting competition, judged by Christina Dowd, executive director of Philly Loves Beer, will return on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Football fans are invited to watch the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon as the game is broadcast live on large high-definition TVs.
Treats, trinkets and crafts galore! The Made in Philadelphia Fall Market will also return to Dilworth Park this weekend. Featuring a unique lineup of over 50 local artisans, visitors are encouraged to browse and buy one-of-a-kind pieces found exclusively at this diverse pop-up.
Octoberfest and the Made in Philadelphia Fall Market hours are:
Friday, October 11: Noon-9 p.m.
Saturday, October 12: Noon-8 p.m.
Sunday, October 13: Noon-6 p.m.
The full event schedule is to be announced.
