Arts on Center Stage: The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble

Philadelphia’s diverse arts and cultural organizations perform shows ranging from orchestral music and ballet ensembles to jazz instrumentals and more. Attendance is free. Seating on the Greenfield Lawn is limited and guests are encouraged to bring their own blanket or chair.

The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble produces original works of choreography while preserving the tradition of improvisation in American rhythm tap. The Philadelphia-based group centers the work of women in tap through performance, education, and community outreach. Dancers will perform repertoire ranging from reimagined jazz standards to contemporary favorites, plus audience members will be invited to participate in interactive rhythm games and learning introductory tap steps. Free tap shoes will be available for a limited number of kids through the company’s outreach program!
