About the Park

At the midpoint on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway between City Hall and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Sister Cities Park adds a picturesque swath of green to the heart of Philadelphia’s notable arts and cultural district. From here, panoramic views bring skyscrapers, historic cathedrals and museums into harmony, while the Sister Cities fountain, a unique representation of the world with Philadelphia at its center, is close enough for adults to touch and children to run through. The fountain’s 10 geyser-like spouts mark our 10 sister cities, each positioned according to its global relationship to Philadelphia.

The transformation of this tiny shard of land amounts to a small miracle... Every Philadelphia neighborhood should have a park as good as Sister Cities.

— Inga Saffron, The Philadelphia Inquirer

A new, temporary art display, will pop up at Sister Cities Park beginning September 9. The project was designed and executed by local artist Janell Wysock. Using a loom to knit fabric, she created colorful, eye-catching wraps to decorate some of the park’s most precious assets: its trees.

Children's Discovery Garden

Work is now completed on the Children’s Discovery Garden at Sister Cities Park, which has created more play opportunities, including a play net and platform, push-button water jets, a stream dam and a sensory-friendly twig nest. The garden is inspired by Philadelphia’s Wissahickon Valley, the garden’s winding pathways and meandering stream provide a setting for discovery and imaginative play.
