Philadelphia’s Rail Park, inspired by New York City’s High Line, is one of 19 projects included in the High Line Network – a group of infrastructure reuse projects across North America.
CCD has started construction on a new coffee kiosk at the southern end of Dilworth Park adjacent to 15th Street with the installation of foundations and plumbing lines. This follows approval by the city’s Historical Commissionand the Art Commission. The coffee kiosk will open in April.
The Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink and Cabin are now closed in Dilworth Park as Center City District (CCD) landscaping and parks staff prepare for the arrival of spring. Seasonal updates include the return of park fountains, flowers and foliage as well as the Rothman Orthopedics Roller Rink.
With pedestrian volumes on Center City sidewalks last month reaching the highest point since March 2020, the CCD is expanding its existing clean and safe programs by launching an additional uniformed, unarmed bicycle safety patrol within the District during afternoon and evening hours. This new shift will focus on entertainment and dining areas from 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. to support significant increase in returning shoppers, visitors & workers.
CCD is starting work on enhancements to Sister Cities Park. We will be expanding the park’s opportunities for play by offering new components that engage children from a broader range of ages.
Citywide employment has fully rebounded from the spring 2020 shutdown with 2.4% more jobs in October 2023 than in February 2020.
