At the start of 2020, before the pandemic upended daily life and shook every aspect of the city’s economy, Philadelphia was in its 11th straight year of growth. Now, as vaccination rates rise and vitality is steadily returning to the downtown and neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia, the CCD and CPDC are releasing a pair of reports which look at the past year’s challenges and track multiple indicators of recovery.
This summer, PNC Bank will once again support local artists by underwriting CCD’s arts and culture programming in Dilworth Park, including Live @ Lunch presented by PNC beginning Wednesday June 1, and continuing every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon through July 28. These small outdoor concerts at lunchtime, featuring a full lineup of musicians representing Philadelphia’s eclectic music scene, will take place from noon-1 p.m. Attendance will be free for all.
For nearly 20 years, Center City District Restaurant Week has given thousands of diners the opportunity to experience some of Philadelphia’s best restaurants at a reduced price. Beginning Monday, September 12, through Saturday, September 24, the tradition gets even better! All of Dilworth Park’s popular winter attractions are returning in November. The Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink will again offer skating seven days per week, the Greenfield Lawn will host reindeer topiaries in the Wintergarden and the west facade of historic City Hall will once again be illuminated by the Deck the Hall Light Show presented by Independence Blue Cross with support from 6abc. The Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin and the Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market will round out the park’s seasonal transformation.
Center City District (CCD) has partnered with several of Philadelphia’s nationally recognized performing arts organizations to offer exclusive discounts on tickets during CCD’s Dinner and a Show promotion. From March 1 through May 31, attendees can purchase reduced price admission to performances hosted at select venues across Center City, with more than 35 shows to choose from.
