Transportation leaders discussed how SEPTA is preparing for the return of office workers and the City is looking to balance the competing uses on Center City streets and avoid a return of traffic congestion.
Center City District SIPS is back after a two-year hiatus with weekly discounts at dozens of local bars and restaurants on Wednesday nights throughout the District. Parkway Pals Play Day at Sister Cities Park will return for the first time since 2019 on Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. with free activities and entertainment for children and their families. The all-day celebration of laughter and learning is the official kick-off event for Parkway Pals, a summertime educational series that brings nearby cultural institutions outside for kid-friendly programming.
With pedestrian volumes on Center City sidewalks last month reaching the highest point since March 2020, the CCD is expanding its existing clean and safe programs by launching an additional uniformed, unarmed bicycle safety patrol within the District during afternoon and evening hours. This new shift will focus on entertainment and dining areas from 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. to support significant increase in returning shoppers, visitors & workers.
