It’s official: cocktails to-go are now available throughout Philadelphia! As part of the ongoing effort to support local businesses, a dedicated webpage has been added to the CCD site that provides a running list of participating locations.
Center City District announces the return of The Garden, a weekend-long celebration of summer that adds to Dilworth Park’s greenery, flowers and brightly colored artwork. Beginning Friday, June 10 through Sunday, June 12, expect live performances, activities for families and free admission for everyone.
CCD has started construction on a new coffee kiosk at the southern end of Dilworth Park adjacent to 15th Street with the installation of foundations and plumbing lines. This follows approval by the city’s Historical Commissionand the Art Commission. The coffee kiosk will open in April.
CCD and Mural Arts Philadelphia are pleased to announce a streetscape enhancement project to bring original works of art to a variety of downtown businesses that have been temporarily shuttered due to the current health crisis.
Nearly two years after Philadelphia offices were ordered to close as the first COVID-19 cases were detected, and more than a year after vaccinations got underway, Center City and University City companies are continuing to adapt and remain flexible, while strongly valuing the importance of in-office work and a downtown presence, according to a CCD survey. CCD distributed a survey to employers to gauge their current stance on in-office and remote work, their plans for the first quarter of 2022, and factors they were weighing in making workplace decisions.
Sustained by a diversified retail customer base that includes the third largest downtown population in the U.S., workers, tourists, and regional visitors, Center City Philadelphia is on pace for the second consecutive year of positive net openings, according to the new Center City District/Central Philadelphia Development Corporation Center City Retail, November 2022.
To extend the holiday shopping and entertainment into the New Year, Center City District (CCD) is sponsoring Restaurant Week, beginning Sunday, January 9 and continuing through Friday, January 21, 2022. Dozens of local restaurants will participate in this biannual prix-fixe dining promotion that highlights some of the city’s most diverse culinary venues.
The CCD’s plan and budget for 2023-2027 shows the continued primary focus on the basics, devoting more than threequarters of assessment revenues to programs for a clean, safe, attractive and well-managed public environment.
Winter traditions continue safely at Dilworth Park with the addition of Deck the Hall Holiday Lights! The newly redesigned illumination will feature festive projections on the west façade of City Hall. This unique experience will premiere on Monday, November 23 and will run through January 1, 2021.
Dilworth Park remains a safe, outdoor destination for Philadelphians throughout the rest of the winter season. The Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink, the Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin and the Wintergarden on the Greenfield Lawn can be enjoyed through February 28, featuring a variety of free activities. Increased health and safety protocols, like mandatory mask wearing and social distancing, continue in accord with State, City and CDC guidelines.
