In this winter edition of the CCD/CPDC quarterly newsletter, President and CEO Prema Katari Gupta discusses Center City District's core mission and future plans for downtown wayfinding.

For nearly 35 years, CCD has worked to keep downtown Philadelphia clean and safe. Our 100 sidewalk cleaners, 52 Community Service Representatives, and 16 bike patrol members work to improve the public environment, and our homeless outreach teams have connected nearly 200 unhoused individuals with life-saving services this year.

While operational excellence is our foundation, the CCD team is also thinking about the bigger picture—how can Center City’s pedestrian experience be improved?

Prema notes that the 1,000 wayfinding signs CCD maintains are 30 years old -- predating smartphones, bike lanes, and rideshare. Given those changes, alongside core Center City’s 76% population increase since these signs were installed, it's time for an update that matches our ambitions and serves the city we've become.
