In this summer edition of the CCD/CPDC quarterly newsletter, President & CEO Prema Katari Gupta highlights the recently released and reimagined State of Center City, which reflects CCD’s organizational vision that “Center City is Philadelphia’s heart of commerce, culture, and connection, generating opportunity and prosperity for the entire city and region.” She notes that the report’s findings clearly show that Center City in 2025 is reinventing itself as a more resilient, diverse, and dynamic downtown. While challenges remain and significant work is needed to improve quality-of-life concerns, Center City has recaptured 90% of its foot traffic, its residential population exceeds pre-2020 levels, and it remains Philadelphia’s most concentrated employment hub, with 42% of city jobs
