FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Outdoor entertainment, beautiful plantings and more continue safely this season!

PHILADELPHIA (February 23, 2021): Dilworth Park’s spring activities are beginning to sprout! Starting in March, colorful tulips, outdoor programming and family-oriented entertainment will pop up.  Enhanced health and safety protocols, like mandatory mask wearing and social distancing, remain in accord with State, City and CDC guidelines.

While the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink and Cabin close for the season on Sunday, February 28, the Wintergarden on the Greenfield Lawn will remain open through mid-April. A full lineup of free programming will activate the space at the southern end of the park, including weekly events for families with young children and an evening cultural series. Once the Wintergarden is dismantled, the lawn will be regraded and new sod will be installed. The Albert M. Greenfield Lawn will reopen in mid-May. The Dilworth Park Café will continue to offer cocktails to-go, and the Air Grille will have lunchtime hours beginning Monday, April 5. The twenty-five thousand tulip bulbs planted last December in all four Center City District managed parks will begin to bloom in April, flourishing through early May.

Upcoming outdoor activities include:

Storytime in the Wintergarden

Philadelphia’s robust network of arts & culture organizations, large and small, will be celebrated every week as they showcase their talent in the center of the city at Dilworth Park. Performances will range from orchestral serenades and ballet ensembles to jazz instrumentals and beyond. In support of local restaurants, guests are encouraged to dine al fresco with takeout meals from nearby eateries. Cocktails to-go will be offered to guests 21 and older, and a special menu will be available at the Air Grille.

CCD and the park’s café operators have implemented increased health safety procedures throughout the park and visitors will be reminded to adhere to all CDC guidelines, including wearing masks at all times. CCD staff and all vendors are wearing masks. Anyone who feels sick, or has been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 14 days, should refrain from entering the park. CCD staff will be distributing free masks to guests in the park and guests must be wearing a mask to purchase any food or beverage.

All programs are weather permitting and subject to change. Dilworth Park is located at 1 S. 15th St., on the west side of City Hall. Visit DilworthPark.org to learn more.
