FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Coffee giveaways, entertainment and more returning this spring

PHILADELPHIA (March 19, 2024): This spring, Center City District (CCD) will celebrate Center City office employees with coffee giveaways and entertainment as they make their way into the office.
Center City Sunrise will be hosted on select Wednesday mornings from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. beginning April 3 through June 5 and returning in the fall, September 4 through October 2.

Locations will vary from week to week, including office plazas and familiar public spaces. The current schedule includes:

  • April 3 | Suburban Station (16th St. & JFK Blvd.) with coffee from Capriccio Café
  • April 17 | Three Logan Square with coffee from Bluestone Lane
  • April 24 | 1735 Market St. with coffee from Coco Grille
  • May 1 | Commerce Square (2001-2005 Market St.) with coffee from Capriccio Café
  • May 8 | Comcast Center (1701 JFK. Blvd.) with coffee from Termini Bros. Bakery
  • May 15 | The Shops at Liberty Place (1625 Chestnut St.) with coffee from Saxbys
  • May 22 | 1900 Market St. with coffee from Capriccio Café
  • June 5 | Cret Park (110 N. 16th St.) with coffee from Capriccio Café

Live music will be featured at all locations. These performances are supported with funds from the Music Performance Trust Fund, American Federation of Musicians, and Local 77.

Center City Sunrise builds on lunchtime programs CCD has been offering in office building lobbies since the start of the spring. Center City FYI has enabled workers to learn about shopping, dining and arts & culture opportunities downtown and to connect with staff from SEPTA, PATCO and CCD.

“As of April 2023, nearly two-thirds of non-resident employees have returned to work downtown,” said Prema Katari Gupta, President & CEO of the Center City District. “We are grateful for their contributions to the vitality of our downtown. We hope that Center City Sunrise, even in the smallest way, can help make the morning commute a bit brighter.”

Center City Philadelphia holds 41% of all jobs citywide, with more than 100,000 being employed in the office district. In addition to supporting those employees with events in the office district, CCD continues to deploy more than 100 on-street workers who clean sidewalks and CCD-managed parks on two overlapping shifts, seven days a week. Monthly power washing returns in April.

CCD’s Community Service Representatives (CSRs) continue to be a welcoming presence in Center City, patrolling daily in their distinctive teal uniforms. They interact with the public to provide information or directions and are equally prepared to request police services or provide outreach to unsheltered individuals.

CCD’s unarmed bicycle patrol operates within the District from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days per week. Daily deployment of these officers is closely coordinated with the Philadelphia Police Department’s Central Division.
