FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The 3-day floral pop-up installation will be accompanied by family-friendly entertainment

PHILADELPHIA (May 27, 2021) Beginning Friday, June 11 through Sunday, June 13,  visitors are invited to spend the weekend outdoors surrounded by blooming bursts of foliage and bright colors at Dilworth Park. The Garden, a pop-up installation, will bring floral-inspired décor to the park, and will be accompanied by live music and family-friendly entertainment. The event will occur on the final weekend of the Philadelphia Flower Show, which can be accessed directly from Dilworth Park on the Broad Street line. Face coverings and social distancing continue to be encouraged, and enhanced cleaning protocols remain in place, at all CCD parks. As always, attendance is free to the public.

Strolling entertainers, including circus performers and flower costumed characters on stilts, will roam the space while visitors choose between selfie spots, which include a Temple University flower wall and shaded pergolas adorned in dangling vines. Kid-friendly activities will give families an opportunity to enjoy themselves outside. Crafts, including seed planting, flower pot decorating and chalk art will be available on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and a bubble magic show will take place on Saturday. Live music and local DJs will play throughout the weekend.

Additionally, one lucky attendee will have the chance to win a full-size ping pong table, courtesy of Truly Hard Seltzer. A first come, first serve winner-takes-all tournament will be held on Saturday afternoon. Adults 21 and older can find Truly Hard Seltzer, plus New Truly Punch and Twisted Tea Hard Iced Tea, in the Air Grille beer garden. Refreshing cocktails to-go made with Haku Japanese Vodka will also be available. Other satellite bars will be scattered throughout the park. Visitors can find a variety menu items in the space, including elote street corn, a pulled chicken sandwich and a fresh burrata salad.

The Dilworth Park Café will be fully stocked with grab-and-go staples and snacks for the kids, as well as local Philadelphia treats, including Sweet Nina’s Banana Pudding, Really Real Ginger beverages and Bassett’s Ice Cream.

The Rothman Orthopaedics Roller Rink will be open to the public with regular hours, Friday-Saturday 11 a.m.-11:15 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.-8:45 p.m. Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets online ahead of time at rothmanrink.ticketsocket.com. Capacity is limited, and sessions are expected to sell out.

Planned in conjunction with The Garden, a preview of the Philadelphia Marketplace will give guests the opportunity to browse and buy unique finds throughout the weekend. The outdoor market will feature a variety of Center City and citywide retailers, along with local small businesses and makers.

“As Philadelphia continues to reopen, the Center City District remains committed to providing a safe, clean and welcoming experience for all Center City residents, visitors and office workers. The Garden at Dilworth Park is the perfect opportunity to rediscover all you’ve missed, and to celebrate the upcoming summer season,” said Paul Levy, President and CEO of the Center City District.
