Two-Week Promotion Generated Record Revenue for Restaurants

PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 27, 2017) — The 2017 Center City District (CCD) Restaurant Week, from January 22 to January 27 and January 29 to February 3, was the most successful Restaurant Week in the promotion’s 14-year history. The 130 restaurants that participated generated $12.8 million in revenue.

The 251,075 diners who enjoyed this year’s promotion represent a 22% increase over January 2016’s CCD Restaurant Week. OpenTable, the CCD’s presenting partner, reported a 15% increase in online reservations over January 2016’s CCD Restaurant Week.

In a survey completed after CCD Restaurant Week ended, 95% of restaurants reported they viewed the promotion successful, an increase of 5% over September 2016’s CCD Restaurant Week.

In addition, 84% of restaurants surveyed indicated they enjoyed an increase in revenue compared to an average, non-promotion week in January and early February, typically a slow time for restaurants in Philadelphia. More than half saw revenues jump by 26%.

The promotion offered three-course dinners for $35 per person, with select restaurants featuring a three-course lunch for $20, not including tax, gratuity, or alcohol. Restaurants featured signature cocktails from partners Basil Hayden and Jim Beam Double Oak.

Reduced parking rates at various Philadelphia parking facilities added convenience through a partnership with the Philadelphia Parking Authority and Philadelphia Parking Association.

Center City District Restaurant Week was presented by TD Bank, OpenTable, Cardiology Consultants of Philadelphia, Basil Hayden, Jim Beam Double Oak, Philadelphia Parking Authority, Philadelphia Parking Association, and PHLCVB.
