Pedestrian activity in Center City has continued its gradual two-year upward trend, buoyed by a substantial ongoing increase in downtown residents as well as the return of visitors and a slower but notable return of office workers, according to this new report from CCD/CPDC.
CCD is celebrating workers who are back in the office — and encouraging others to join them — with a series of morning and afternoon events.
This summer, CCD is launching Let’s Do Lunch, an exciting new dining initiative to support the vibrant lunchtime scene in Center City. Starting June 24 and continuing every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday through August 14, groups of two or more can take advantage of special two-course lunch deals at participating restaurants.

A new CCD/CPDC report, Center City Pedestrian Counts, November 2022, documents that pedestrian volumes in October 2022 in the commercial core reached 77% of the October 2019 level, showing steady growth throughout 2022. The rate of increase has been greatest in the commercial office district and the successful return of major conventions is clearly visible in the volume recorded by CCD sensors at 12th and Market Street.
