On July 29, the Board of Directors of the Center City District Foundation held a private tour of the progress of the Rail Park for major and prospective project donors.
A new CCD/CPDC report, Center City Pedestrian Counts, November 2022, documents that pedestrian volumes in October 2022 in the commercial core reached 77% of the October 2019 level, showing steady growth throughout 2022. The rate of increase has been greatest in the commercial office district and the successful return of major conventions is clearly visible in the volume recorded by CCD sensors at 12th and Market Street.
Center City continued its steady process of recovery in June and during the first three weeks of July with pedestrian volumes reaching 92% of 2019 levels. The robust recovery of residents and visitors has led the way, while the number of workers in June approached 100,000, attaining 76% of June 2019 levels.
Project HOME and the CCD unveiled a new information campaign that is being deployed on transit shelters and counter cards in Center City, highlighting five Philadelphians previously living on the streets who chose a path out of homelessness and now seek to inspire others to do the same.
