An online survey of CPDC members and CCD Board was conducted in the last two weeks to determine the expected timing of a return of workers to the office and to assess factors that respondents believe should be addressed to facilitate the return to work.
Center City District (CCD) has retained a group of local artists to create a major display of new banners, currently being installed across Center City, to coincide with the partial reopening of businesses and the gradual return of workers and visitors to the downtown.
This CCD, CPDC report suggests that Philadelphia should increase its commitment to quality of life investments and resume its prior commitments to tax reduction, in order to retain and attract residents and businesses and spur widespread and inclusive private-sector job growth.
This summer, CCD staff surveyed the number of restaurants currently providing outdoor seating, including new streeteries, within the district boundaries. Outdoor dining has been an indicator of Center City’s vibrancy since sidewalk cafés were first authorized. As the current number of restaurants providing take out or serving outdoors continues to expand, Center City is slowly and cautiously beginning to recover.
The 2019 Developments Report includes a map and full-color photos or renderings and project descriptions of all 62 major developments in Center City, categorized by type. New for 2019, an interactive map that features all of the information found within the publication.
To support local restaurants, CCD is providing a new, evening outdoor dining experience every Wednesday and Thursday evening from 5 p.m.-9 p.m., beginning August 12 through October 7. Purchase take-out from nearby restaurants and bring it to Dilworth Park to enjoy the fountains, lush landscaping and live music.
