Deck the Hall Light Show Presented by Independence Blue Cross features moving projections and music to transform the west face of City Hall

PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 19, 2017) — This holiday season, Center City District in collaboration with 6abc presents a new attraction for Dilworth Park Wintergarden visitors: a dramatic light show, synchronized with music and projected onto the West Market Street portal of City Hall.

The Deck the Hall Light Show Presented by Independence Blue Cross will be run every hour on the half-hour on evenings from Sunday to Thursday and more frequently on Friday and Saturday evenings. The six-minute show will highlight and animate City Hall’s historic architecture and be visible from Dilworth Park and along West Market Street.

The show, created by Philadelphia’s award-winning experimental art studio KLIP Collective, will premiere on Monday, November 20 with a special press kick-off event at 5 p.m. and will continue through January 1, 2018.

“We are thrilled to partner with 6abc and Independence Blue Cross and thank them both for their generous support to light City Hall for the holidays. We did a still version of this, once before in 2005, but with the latest technology, the public will get to enjoy a dynamic and musical, theatrical show,” said Paul R. Levy, President and CEO of Center City District.

“The Deck the Hall Light Show promises to create Philadelphia memories that last a lifetime for residents and visitors,” said Daniel J. Hilferty, President and CEO of Independence Blue Cross. “Independence Blue Cross is proud to help the city shine. Our commitment to Center City – from our enhanced campus and courtyard on Market Street to our support for this light show at City Hall – embodies our 80-year tradition of helping to make Philadelphia a great place to live, work, and visit.”

6abc President and General Manager Bernie Prazenica said, “We’re really excited about the Deck the Hall Light Show. It’s going to be a terrific addition to the Philadelphia holiday experience. We’d like to thank the Center City District for this unique partnership.”

Wintergarden at Dilworth Park is managed and programmed by the Center City District and includes the opportunity for visitors to ice skate at the Rothman Institute Ice Rink, enjoy delicious food and seasonal drinks at the Rothman Institute Cabin, stroll through America’s Garden Capital Maze, supported by William Penn Foundation and Temple University Ambler, and shop for locally-made gifts and food in the Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market.
