The performances will range from orchestral serenades and ballet ensembles to jazz instrumentals and more. Attendance is free for all, but seating in the Greenfield Lawn is limited. Bring-your-own blanket or chair encouraged.
Performer: Temple University
Featuring top undergraduate and graduate jazz students in Temple University’s award-winning jazz program, the Temple University Jazz Ensemble performs a wide array of jazz styles at the highest level. Coming off a second-place finish at the 2024 Keep an Eye on Jazz international competition in Amsterdam, emerging artists trumpeter Banks Sapnar, saxophonist Evan Kappelman, pianist Anthony Aldissi, bassist Emmy Rota and drummer Maria Marmarou play with the swing, soul and groove that are Philadelphia’s strongest contributions to jazz. They’re shaping their own sound based on the masters that came before them, with help from the incredible faculty at Temple University, including Director of Jazz Studies Terell Stafford and saxophonist Dick Oatts
