Today's performer: Maria Dell'Orefice and Maggy Simon

Maria, a classical pianist and avid violinist, has shared the stage with a multitude of performers including Chris Botti, Alexander Markov, and Francesca DePasquale. While Maria frequently presents solo and collaborative performances in the Philadelphia area, she has also performed solo piano in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as a result of winning the Semper Pro Musica Competition, Elite International Music Competition, and Crescendo International Piano Competition. 

Maria has studied under Charles Abramovic, Lambert Orkis, Jane Abbott-Kirk, and Sheila Paige and is an advocate of the Taubman technique. She earned her B.M. in Piano Performance from Baylor University in Waco, TX and earned a double M.M. in Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.

Maggy Simon is an avid violinist, educator, and collaborator residing in Brooklyn, New York. She recently completed her Masters Degree in Violin Performance from Carnegie Mellon University, studying with William van der Sloot. Maggy has played in numerous ensembles including Palaver Strings, the New England Symphonic Ensemble, the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, Protestra, Westmoreland Symphony, and the Newtown Chamber Orchestra. She has also had the honor of playing in venues like Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center, the Kimmel Center, the White House, and the Wanamaker Building.

Maggy is a Violin/Viola Teaching Artist through the Harmony Program in the Bronx, and formerly taught Orchestra in the Philadelphia School District. Maggy teaches private violin lessons to students in her neighborhood in Bushwick, Brooklyn. She has always held deep passion for music education, as her whole family is made up of musicians and teachers. Maggy attended Temple University for her Undergraduate Degree majoring in Music Education and Violin Performance, studying with Barbara Sonies.
