After much anticipation, national big box retailer, Target, opened its first 19,000-square-foot flexible format location in Center City in June 2016. While average Target locations hover around 130,000 square feet, the newly slimmed down flexible format design does away with bulky, big-ticket items for smaller grab-and-go merchandise tailored toward city living. Center City's first ever Target is located at 1128 Chestnut and sells an assortment of groceries, health and beauty supplies, baby products, a small selection of men’s and women’s apparel, home products for condos and apartments and includes a CVS Pharmacy and full-sized Starbucks. A second downtown location is now also open at the corner of 19th and Chestnut Streets.
