Philadelphia’s robust network of arts & culture organizations, large and small, will be celebrated every week as they perform in the center of the city. Shows will range from orchestral serenades and ballet ensembles to jazz instrumentals and beyond. In support of local restaurants, guests are encouraged to dine al fresco with takeout meals from nearby eateries. A special menu will be offered at the Air Grille, and cocktails made with Maker’s Mark Bourbon and Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer will be available for purchase to guests 21 and older to enjoy within designated areas in the park. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs, as seating is limited.

Tonight's group, Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers (KYL/D), is one of the country’s premier contemporary Asian-American companies, described as “deeply spiritual” by Dance Magazine. Hailed for superbly trained dancers and inventive choreography, KYL/D celebrates the ability of dance to integrate body, mind, and spirit, inviting viewers to engage in their own journeys of self-discovery.

Proceeding from a rich frame informed by living traditions, contemplative practices, and diverse philosophies of Asian origin, KYL/D creates world-class dance that integrates virtuosity with humanity. Drawing upon Eastern philosophies while expanding the perimeter of contemporary dance, Artistic Director Lin’s zen-inspired practice of dance manifests in lush works of poetic sensibility that the New York Times says “create and inhabit worlds of their own.”
