Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Center City District Operations Update

In keeping with the City of Philadelphia’s order for all non-essential businesses to shut down, the Center City District administrative offices are closed. Nearly all office staff are working remotely, routinely checking email and voicemail and can respond to questions that need immediate answers.

We are continuing our sidewalk cleaning operations (waste collection), Community Service Representatives (security/public safety), homeless outreach, pressure washing and sanitizing of sidewalks and street furniture and graffiti removal, as well as basic landscape maintenance in parks, all of which the Commonwealth and City have deemed essential services and that are part of our core mission to provide clean and safe public sidewalks and spaces in Center City. We have contracted with WaWa to provide, at CCD's cost, lunch to all our on-street employees.

We have put in place extra procedures and safety provisions for all CCD on-street staff, including the staggering of all shifts to minimize clustering at the beginning and end of the workday, the distribution of masks and gloves, and we are also reinforcing the recommendations about preserving “social distance” as they interact with members of the public on the street. In a challenged environment, CCD is continually sourcing new supplies of masks, which are persistently in short supply.

Dilworth Park, Cret Park and Sister Cities Park remain accessible to the public, though all events have been indefinitely postponed. Collins Park is closed at this time. Dilworth Park Café, the Starbucks' coffee stand at Dilworth Park, the café at Cret Park and the café at Sister Cities Park are all closed until further notice. To ensure the health and safety of our customers and the general public, all chairs have been removed and restrooms are closed in all of our parks.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work together through this challenging time. The well-being of our employees and the public are our top priorities; at the same time, we remain focused on the important public functions and responsibilities we have in Center City Philadelphia.

Center City District will continue to follow guidelines and recommendations from national, state and city authorities and we will adjust our plans accordingly as conditions change. Updates will be posted on this page.
