Sarah LaFleur, CEO and Founder of MM.LaFleur, worked in management consulting and private equity for several years, where she needed a rotation of smart professional outfits. However, she did not have the time nor the inclination to shop for them. She believed that there were other female executives who felt like she did, so she teamed up with co-founders Narie Foster and Miyajo Nakamura and launched the online retailer in 2013. Known for its luxury workwear that is both practical and elegant, MM.LaFleur challenges the belief that women love the shopping experience and that they want to buy trendy clothes. Their collection includes classic shift dresses, pencil skirts and blouses that appeal to working women of all ages and are tailored to fit a wide range of women’s bodies.

The New York-based retailer opened its fifth brick-and-mortar showroom in Philadelphia at the Shops at Liberty Place. The Center City store, unlike a traditional shop, will only offer one-hour styling appointments in a beautifully appointed showroom. To streamline the shopping experience, customers will make an appointment in advance and when they arrive clothes pre-selected by a stylist will be waiting for them in the changing room. At the end of the visit shoppers can place an order for the items they liked, which will be shipped to them for free a few days later.
