Celebrate Spring and Easter Sunday at Sister Cities Park!
(April 5, 2014) – Celebrate Easter Sunday and the start of spring at Sister Cities Park on Sunday April 20, from 10:00 a.m., until 2:00 p.m. with a Spring Plant and Produce Pop-Up.
Greensgrow Farms will be on hand to sell plants and produce to celebrate the start of spring. Greensgrow Farms is the major initiative of the non-profit parent organization, the Greensgrow Philadelphia Project, which is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) organization, and also includes a farmstand, nursery, and Community Kitchen. Learn more about Greensgrow at www.greensgrow.org.
Families also are invited to participate in a special seed and planting activity for kids, facilitated by the Greensgrow Philadelphia staff. Guests to the event will also be treated to classical guitar music, courtesy of the Philadelphia Guitar Summit before stopping by Logan Square Café for a cup of coffee or Easter brunch.
“We are always excited to extend our urban greening and education initiatives to a new neighborhood in Philadelphia; it’s an honor to be invited to share what we do with the community around Sister Cities Park," said Rebecca Frimmer, General Manager of Greensgrow Farms.
Located at 18th and the Parkway, Sister Cities Park was reopened in May 2012 after the Center City District completed a $5.2 million renovation that included a new fountain honoring Philadelphia’s 10 sister cities, a Children’s Discovery Garden, boat pond, and Logan Square Café, along with new trees and beautiful new landscaping.
Stop by the park and enjoy its many amenities and events. Sister Cities Park is part of the Fairmount Park System, managed and maintained by the Center City District. For a complete list of events and activities, please go to www.SisterCitiesPark.org, and follow us on Twitter @CCDParks.
